A Livable Planet

Resist corporate policies, regulations, and investments that undermine climate justice, community resiliency, and ecosystem stability.

Limit the ecological and social harm from the use of generative AI and the construction and operation of data centers and semiconductor manufacturing.

Protect our communities and ecosystems from the dangers posed by liquid fuel storage and transportation, including the release of emissions and combustion of liquid fuels.

Strengthen and support policies that accelerate the decarbonization of our built environment.

Divest state pensions funds from fossil fuel and other companies engaged in environmentally harmful activities.

Implement plans for a just transition to a low-carbon, well-being economy.

Promote electrification, community-controlled clean energy, efficient mass transit, and safe active transportation.

Prioritize the use of natural resources and land for local sustainable food systems, sequestration, community resiliency, and restoration.

Raise funds from polluters as well as ultra-wealthy individuals and highly profitable corporations to finance policies that advance climate justice.

Strengthen the Portland Clean Energy Fund and maintain its focus on the climate, affordability, and employment needs of low-income families and communities of color.

Strong Public Schools

Establish policies and practices that promote the safety, health, and well-being of students and educators.

Fully fund a cradle-to-career statewide educational model that includes: universal 0-3 and Pre-K programming; a whole child approach to K-12 public education; and free tuition for public school students through community college and university.

Adequately staff schools to ensure staff are able to support students in crisis.

Expand public health clinics and food pantries at schools.

Ensure that all buildings have proper ventilation, heating and cooling, and use green products and meet LEED standards in construction and remodeling.

Ensure that our education system is responsive to the needs of students, not corporate interests.

Establish real shared governance that includes educators, staff, and student leadership.

Maintain and expand the role of the Quality Education Model and the Quality Education Commission without contracting out the work to non-educators or non-education advocates.

Invest in an educational workforce that reflects the students they serve by providing the financial support necessary to enable diverse populations to enter the educational workforce.

End the AI-ification of education and protect the freedom to teach and learn without government or corporate intervention into the curriculum.

Housing Justice

Provide affordable and healthy neighborhood rental options accessible to everyone.

Repeal ORS 91.225 to allow local jurisdictions to implement local rent control and stabilization policies.

Implement a vacancy tax.

Support the purchase of existing buildings and their conversion into non-market housing with an emphasis on innovative social housing models.

Ensure local jurisdictions have sufficient and efficient rent assistance programs.

Invest in programs that provide for first-time homeownership opportunities.

Increase investments in first-time homebuyer assistance programs.

Implement Limited Equity Co-operative homeownership models.

Stop private equity from owning single family homes.

Affordability

Implement policies that lower the cost and increase the availability of essential public services.

Support Multnomah Country Preschool for All to reduce childcare costs, boost educational and earning outcomes, and free parents to work and earn.

Establish fast and free bus and MAX service to reduce the cost of transportation and travel time for both drivers and riders.

Strengthen the city’s library system and enhance the quality and accessibility of our community centers to provide low-cost opportunities for learning, exercise, and community resiliency.

Support parks, natural habitat, and green infrastructure to provide outside exercise options, childhood exploration in natural settings, and access to community food gardens and food forests.

Create an equitable tax system to finance affordability gains.

Change state laws to prevent corporations from dodging the state income taxes they owe Oregonians.

Decouple Oregon state taxes from the federal tax code, protecting Oregonians from the highly unequal and wasteful tax breaks approved by the Trump administration.

End property tax abatements for exploitative investments that do more harm than good for community welfare, such as data centers.

Increase Portland’s inequality tax on firms with CEOs paid more than 100 times the median wage of employees.

Worker Power

Invest in workers through policies that create, protect, and fund high-road jobs.

Fund Oregon’s Bureau of Labor & Industries and Occupational Safety & Health Division to ensure that the agencies have the staff and budget needed to aggressively investigate all worker claims and proactively protect workplace safety.

Establish cities’ right to set their own minimum wages at living wage standards.

Create workforce standards boards to establish living wages and working standards in industries where low wages and poor working conditions are common, union density is low, or the workforce is too fragmented for independent collective bargaining.

Ensure that the jobs created under the governor’s Prosperity Plan are high-road jobs and, where applicable, prioritize licensed work that expands apprentices’ skills within their trade.

Expand and strengthen worker rights.

Establish the legal right to organize for Oregon workers currently excluded from National Labor Relations Act protections, including farm workers, domestic workers, gig workers, and independent contractors treated like employees.

Modernize Oregon’s Unemployment Insurance program to provide coverage to all workers, including self-employed workers, gig workers, and undocumented workers.

Implement legislation that enshrines workers’ right to privacy in the workplace, protecting them from surveillance by their employers, clients, or third parties.

Enact Just Cause employment protections to enhance worker economic security and possibilities for unionization.

Dignity for All

Protect communities under direct attack from state violence, discrimination, and family separation by ensuring local and state governments use all tools at their disposal.

Protect our immigrant communities by strengthening and enforcing Oregon’s sanctuary laws and closing loopholes that allow profiling, retaliation, or unnecessary disclosure of immigration status in employment, housing, education, and the courts.

Guarantee equal access to justice by investing in universal legal representation, worker relief, and family stabilization supports for those facing detention, deportation, or separation, as well as investigating and prosecuting violations by federal and state agents that violate state laws.

Pass the Law Enforcement Visibility and Accountability Act and the Data Broker Act to protect privacy, regulate data sharing, and prevent surveillance-based targeting of communities.

Remove ICE from Oregon communities and end federal immigration enforcement tactics that terrorize families and children.

Build an Oregon where dignity is lived and experienced every day through belonging, material security, and freedom from discrimination and criminalization.

Protect LGBTQ+ people by defending Oregon’s protections for gender-affirming healthcare, enforcing nondiscrimination laws in schools and workplaces, and resisting state or federal efforts to criminalize identity or care.

Ensure safety for children and families by maintaining the Healthier Oregon Program, which provides access to healthcare for Oregonians regardless of immigration status.

Defend dignity through material security by protecting SNAP benefits, fully implementing School Meals for All, and investing in Oregon’s emergency food system and hunger response funds.

Protect Black Oregonians by addressing racial disparities in policing, housing, education, healthcare, and employment; strengthening law enforcement accountability; and investing in community-led safety, prevention, and reentry programs.
